Ztan Zmith
is the pen name of Stan
Smith of Brinsley, Chairman of the Basford and District Local History
Society and editor of the Basford Bystander – a nostalgic
local community newspaper based on Basford and surrounding districts. For many
years Ztan was also Chairman of the Nottingham Writers Club.
He has written
many articles, short stories and poems which have appeared in a variety of
magazines and newspapers and his work has featured on local Radio.
As well as
fiction, Ztan also writes about real people - the fascinating, but
ordinary, local characters from your area who lived in extraordinary times.
This has led to the publication of four books for the Heritage Press; seven
books based on Ztan’s home village of Brinsley, one book about Underwood folk
and a further book on Basford and Cinderhill.
